Get out your singing and dancing audition vids, Samantha Jade is coming to Canberra to find the next rising star.
The Rising Star talent show is back for its third year, giving up-and-coming Canberra performers the chance to showcase their talents on a public stage.
The event has an all-star panel of judges this year; as well as singer-songwriter Samantha Jade, there’s The Voice finalist Amber Nicholls, hip hop dancer Will Tran, and 2017 Rising Star winner Sophie Edwards.
Since winning the seniors category last year, Sophie has been able to explore opportunities in her music career that she never thought possible.
“I’ve been working on my own music which has taken me all over Australia, going to workshops in Sydney and Melbourne, getting advice from really cool musicians,” Sophie says. “I’m currently being mentored by KLP from Triple J, and have gotten to play live gigs, like Googfest at the beginning of the year.”
Local superstar, Lucy Sugerman, won Rising Stars competition in 2016 and went on to become a finalist on popular TV series, The Voice.
Entries for Rising Star 2018 are open now and the competition will take place at South.Point Shopping Centre on Saturday 1 September from 11am-2pm.
