Bailey’s Corner in Civic is something of an institution in Canberra. It’s a long-serving part of Canberra’s food and wine history, and a go-to destination for hungry Canberrans.

Since 1999, a vital part of this mix is Hog’s Breath Café. As part of a national chain that extends across Australia through the reach of over 80 stores, there is a level of friendliness and a personal touch thanks to the passion and motivation of owner Deb Biswas.

Long known for the quality of their 18-hour Slow-Cooked Prime Rib steaks, it’s hard to go past the endless combinations of toppings and sauces on offer. Available in 200gm, 300gm and 400gm, you can go even larger if you like, and all you pay is $7.00 per 100 grams. Perfect!

Still, it’s not just the hard-core carnivores that can find a place at the beautifully made wooden tables. There are salmon and chicken dishes available, as well a mouth-watering range of burgers and wraps. Perhaps you’d like a bit of everything? The Mixed Grill Tower for 2 will sort you out – delivering an epic three levels of steak, ribs, chicken, bacon and trademark Hog Tail Fries.

It appears resistance is futile.

The varied nooks and crannies that work their way around the split-level restaurant offer opportunities to dine in a booth with four or five friends, to hang out on stools near the bar with drinks and snacks, or simply enjoy a dinner for two in one of the quieter corners.

For those looking for a function space, the private dining room can cater for up to 32 diners. The upstairs area of the main dining room is a great place for even larger groups and can cater for up to 70 people.

Hog’s Breath Café is open 7 days a week from 11.30am. There are regular lunch and dinner specials (Kids eat for free on Mondays and Tuesdays with each adult order of a $20.00 main), and Sundays and public holidays are surcharge free.
