Tempranillo is now considered to be one of the rising stars on the Australian wine scene.

In most regions of Australia, Tempranillo is still a relatively newly planted variety. The full-bodied wine has become a headliner of Mount Majura Vineyard, and the Canberra climate in particular is very similar to where the grape is traditionally grown in Spain.

Last year a group of six winemakers from around the country, including Frank van de Loo from Mount Majura Vineyard, came together to form TempraNeo, a collective of Tempranillo makers inspired by the variety and potential it holds for making wines of character and interest.

On Sunday 25th September, the six winemakers will come together at Mount Majura Vineyard to present a Tempranillo tasting workshops, with the aim of raising awareness of their favourite variety of wine.

There will be 18 wines to taste, with three from each winery, and the TempraNeo winemakers will be in attendance so this is sure to be a great way to soak up their knowledge, philosophies and love of Tempranillo.

The TempraNeo Workshop will be held Mount Majura Vineyard Cellar Door on Sunday 25th September 2011, from 2pm. Tickets $40 per person. Bookings essential on (02) 6262 3070 or [email protected].
