Porter Robinson could have literally set the room on fire last Friday night at Academy.

Presented by Alliance – along with the The M Machine – Porter Robinson brought a set that was hot enough to get the majority of the crowd saying “It was the best night of the year!” It’s a huge statement to make considering Academy has had some of the hottest artists perform there.

Robinson, an American electronic dance music producer and DJ, has quickly become very well known for his popular (amazing) tracks Language and Easy. He was voted number 40 on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJ List for 2012 and is heard in almost every nightclub…electro-house music style or not! This set displayed unbelievable energy and the crowd respond in kind – clearly appreciating Porter’s passion for his music and the way he presents it live.

Though Porter was the star, The M Machine also gave the crowd a high-energy set with lighting effects that provided almost a festival feel. For the uninitiated, the M Machine are an electronic music group from San Francisco who have worked on and mixed for well-known artists albums such as Bruno Mars and Skrillex.

Everyone at Academy was there for a great time and anywhere you could hear the music quickly became a dance-floor. The supporting DJ’s – Chief and Runamark – instilled a feel-good party mood that lasted all night. The sea of people that stuck it out into the wee hours of the morning to hear what The Projektz had in store was a sign of an amazing night – the club was still filled to what seemed like capacity!

Porter Robinson at Academy was a pretty amazing night. It might be hard for Canberra to top that one in 2013!
