When we arrived at the George Street Event cinemas in the Sydney CBD, there was something in the air.
Was it the fact that there were at least a hundred buzzing die-hard TMNT fans or the fact that there were multiple ginormous mutant ninja turtles sprawled around the entrance?
What ever it was there was one thing that was for sure – we were in for some serious turtle action!
Paramount held a premiere for the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 : Out of the Shadows movie that was well anticipated for.
A green carpet was rolled out for the stars visiting Australia, including director David Green, and stars Will Arnett and Stephen Amell – who everyone was super excited about.
The Vault was a little hangout area styled as the TMNT’s secret hideout where we waited for the movie to begin. It had a secret tunnel entrance and creepy water noises, and really made you feel like you were in some sort of movie set.
As we walked into The Vault we were greeted by the TMNT boys themselves. Yes, you guessed it – Michelangelo, Donatello, Raphael and Leonardo!
As we sat in our chairs we were given super exciting 3-D glasses that were also ninja turtle masks. This made me way too excited for the film to start so I could finally transform into my inner ninja.
The audience was kindly introduced the producer who gave us a mini introduction to the movie and then Will Arnett and Stephen Amell took to the stage, who were absolutely hilarious. A video recording from Megan Fox was also shown as she couldn’t make it.
As the movie started the whole room was full of anticipation. You could hear a pin drop.
And what can I say… The movie was IN-CREDIBLE! Not being the biggest Teenage Mutant Turtle fan I wasn’t sure what to expect from this movie, but I was pleasantly surprised leaving the cinema as a proud fan-girl of Michelangelo, Donatello, Raphael, Leonardo… and Stephen Amell.
The movie was full of action, popular culture references, hilarious jokes, sad scenes, happy scenes and all scenes in-between! The turtles even showed up at a live New York Nicks game! What more could you want.
All filmed in the great, busy and bustling city of New York, the movie was honest and authentic in its surroundings.
The night scenes were spectacular, as well as the graphics and animation used for the turtles and their evil nemesis – who by the way is EXTREMELY creepy! Watch out kids!
So whether you’re a die-hard fan, or new to the ninja turtle action like me, this movie is a great flick to go and see.
With a heart-warming ending, I’m sure you will leave the cinema with a bit of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle magic.
