The Royal Opera House 2019/20 Live Cinema Season exclusively presents a screening of the
timeless ballet The Sleeping Beauty on 23 and 26 February 2020 at Event Cinemas.
In this production, which has delighted audiences in Covent Garden since 1946, Tchaikovsky’s
enchanting score and Marius Petipa’s original choreography combine beautifully with sections
created specifically for The Royal Ballet by Frederick Ashton, Anthony Dowell and Christopher
Wheeldon. Cinema audiences will be treated to a fantastic cast, featuring First Soloist Fumi
Kaneko as Princess Aurora and Principal Federico Bonelli as Prince Florimund.
The Sleeping Beauty features some of ballet’s most celebrated numbers including the iconic Rose Adage, the Garland Waltz and the Vision pas de deux. The ballet is based on the fairytale of the same name, about the wicked fairy Carabosse, who pronounces a curse on Princess Aurora.
