Canberra band’s big break at festival

A Canberra band has been announced as one of 60 bands to perform at Australia’s largest free music festival.

The Ians, a group of young hotheads named Nic, Matt, Tim and Dan, have capitalised on the seemingly meteoric rise of the new ‘lemon-rock’ genre to score a place on stage at the St Kilda Festival on Sunday 11 February.

Headlining the festival are The Jezabels, Dan Sultan, Tkay Maidza, Models, Mia Dyson, Bustamento, Architecture in Helsinki (DJ set) and That Gold Street Sound.

More than 60 of the nation’s hottest musical talents will perform over seven stages throughout St Kilda, with crowds expected to surpass 400,000 on the day.

Proudly produced by the City of Port Phillip, the 38^th St Kilda Festival is set to bring an all-Australian music line up alongside a dedicated Kidzone area featuring performances and meet and greets with Hi-5, a kids carnival and cricket workshops with the Melbourne Stars. There will also be a dancezone, parades, carnival rides, food trucks, market stalls and special events hosted by local bars and restaurants.
