Head down to the lawns of Parliament House on Wednesday the 25th of January and experience the Australia Celebrates Live concert, a tribute to everything Australian.

This year’s free event boasts one of the biggest lineups yet and has become the place to be in Canberra for those wanting to kick off their Australia Day celebrations with a fun and dance filled night.

Australian rock legends INXS are back to perform from their repertoire of classic hits, as well as some new favourites from their latest album ‘Original Sin.’ The band’s best known songs, such as ‘Need You Tonight’, ‘New Sensation’, ‘What You Need’ and ‘Never Tear Us Apart’ are sure to have the crowds singing along.

The Potbelleez and Sneaky Sound System will be favourites for the younger punters, with both acts set to get the crowds moving with their internationally successful dance-floor hits.

The Potbelleez will be performing tracks from both of their ARIA chart topping albums including their self-titled album released in 2008 and their latest release ‘Destination Now’. In 2009 their single ‘Don’t Hold Back’ won an ARIA award for Dance Work of the Year.

Fellow ARIA award winners, Sneaky Sound System, will also be tearing up the dance-floor with hits from their albums ‘Sneaky Sound System’, ‘Sneaky Sound System 2’ and ‘From Here To Anywhere,’ which was released last year.

Alternative rock heavyweights Spiderbait will also be gracing the Australia Celebrates Live stage. The band have been making waves on the Australian music scene since 1989, but it wasn’t until their floor-stomping cover ‘Black Betty’ was released that the band began receiving the recognition they deserved. Their single ‘Buy Me A Pony’ was the first Australian song to reach number one on Triple J’s Hottest 100.

Katie Noonan and The Captains will be performing songs from their 2010 release ‘Emperor’s Box’ which reached #21 on the Australian music charts, wrapping up the huge lineup for this year’s Australia Celebrates Live.

The event starts with the Australian Of The Year Awards at 6pm, then at 7.45pm the Australia Celebrates Live Concert begins. This year will also see the introduction a new ‘Family Area’ located on the grass hills of Parliament House. The ‘Family Area’ is a glass and alcohol-free zone where families can enjoy a great view of the concert and the big screen in a more relaxed environment.

Wednesday the 25th is a work day so get a group of colleagues, family or friends together, pack your picnic rug, cover yourself in Aussie colours and be sure to get there early to enjoy what is set to be a fantastic night of Australian music.
