Cranky Cow Milk is Australia’s first bottled lactose-free flavoured milk – and it tastes amazing. It’s the creation of local Canberra entrepreneurs Layton Mills and Tania Vidovic who collectively form the Tanlay Food Group. They launched their product In November 2012 and it’s already spreading rapidly in Australian convenience stores, take aways and petrol stations.
Does the fact that it’s lactose free change the taste? Certainly not! These milks are made from regular reduced fat milk, but have Lactase added, which is the enzyme which allows the body to break down and convert lactose into glucose (something that those with lactose intolerances cannot do).
As well as the milk itself, the quirky packaging and branding is pretty cool too. The Cranky Cow was born a lactose intolerant cow and as a result, is always cranky. As the website back story suggests “Sure it’s a little self-indulgent, but it’s also delicious”.
