Cocktails for a Cause – Friday 17 May
Cocktails, grazing and fundraising all in one! Join for a relaxing evening to unwind and mingle after work from 6pm at Badger & Co. The night will feature live music, cocktails, a grazing table almost too good to eat and fundraising in support of Vikings Group Charity of the Year, Marymead. Tickets are only $50 per person and include a cocktail on arrival, grazing table and 2-hour drinks package. Rocky Horror Picture Show at Limelight Cinemas – Friday 17 May
Join for a special interactive screening of The Rocky Horror Picture show at Limelight Cinemas. No Rocky Horror Tradition will be spared, with Toast and Rice throwing and time warp dance routines highly encouraged! Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow – Friday 17 May
Looking for a Laugh? The Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow is coming to Canberra. The show is packed with outstanding comedians, specially selected to bring fun around Australia. Although it is not suitable for children there is sure to be something for all adults to enjoy. The Canberra Theatre Centre is hosting the event on Friday night from 8pm. Tickets available here.
Canberra Wool Expo – 18-19 May
Head to the Old Bus Depot Markets on the weekend for everything wool! Browse through their huge selection of designer knitwear, funky beanies, felted garments and much more. Yarns are also available to purchase for your own creative purpose. If your a first timer there will be workshops in crochet and knitting and you can have the chance to meet with wool craftspeople and artists. The event is free so pop in anytime from 10am-4pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Pro Skaters at Canberra Centre – Sat 18 May
Canberra Centre has partnered with streetwear and skateboarding store Trilogy Skateboards to bring an action-packed afternoon full of kickflips, noseslides and half pipes. Pro skaters will make Canberra Centre their personal skate park between 12pm–3pm. Some of Australia’s best skaters will be demoing the crazy tricks that took them to the top of Australia’s skateboarding scene. Amateurs will also have the chance to learn the tricks of the trade with free lessons from Canberra Skateboarding Association. There’ll be free food on offer for both spectators and skaters, music from the on-site DJ to get you in the mood, and for the little kids (and big kids alike), Gecko Gang will be offering temporary glitter tattoos and face paints!

If your looking to add some low-light plants to your house this winter, this is for you. Located at The Fitters Workshop in Kingston choose from four time slots to have your browse of over 200 species of plants. You can even get a $5 discount if you come wearing a winter beanie! Making Kimchi – Saturday 18 May
Have your chance to learn and make a traditional Korean staple dish. From 2-3:30pm at the Canberra Environmental Centre discover the benefits of kimchi and other fermented foods and learn the different ways to use kimchi. Million Paws Walk – Sunday 19 May
Bring your pooch along and walk to fight animal cruelty this Sunday at Lake Burley Griffin. You’ll find the team from 9am at Patrick White Lawns in front of The National Library. The walk kicks off at 11am. There will be live music, activities, giveaways, food and much more for all attendees to enjoy until 2:30pm.
