We got the low down from one of our favourite Brumbies player on all things Canberra…
When did you move to Canberra?
I moved to Canberra earlier in the year from Japan, I’d been there for three years.
What was it like living in Japan?
It was interesting. The people are all very nice but culturally we are very different.
What is your favourite thing about living in Canberra?
There is always somewhere nice to go and have a coffee. I live in Kingston and there are plenty of places I go to pretty often.
Where would you go for Sunday morning brunch?
I don’t often get a chance to get out on Sunday morning because I like to sleep in after a game, but the Grind in Kingston is pretty good or even Urban Pantry.
Where would you go for a picnic or a BBQ?
I haven’t got a Mrs at the moment so picnics are pretty few and far between, but it’s nice down on the Lake where Brodburger used to be. For a barbecue the best place is Benny A’s backyard.
On a night out with the boys, where would you head and why?
Kennedy Room in Kingston was popular in pre-season, close to home and a good vibe.
If you had visitors from interstate coming to Canberra, what would you suggest they do in one day around Canberra?
I’d suggest they get down on Friday morning, head to Brodburger for a feed then to the Brumbies in the evening. Afterwards we could head back over the Kingston for a few beers with the boys.
How confident do you feel about the Brumbies beating the Waratahs in the up-coming game?
Well if we didn’t think we could win, we wouldn’t show up. The Tahs are a quality side but there’s something special happening at the Brumbies and I’m happy to be a part of it. It’s been years since the Brumbs had one over the Waratahs but I think this year our time has come.
