Judging by the warm air and the shining sun finally gracing Canberra with its presence, I think its safe to say that Spring has officially sprung!!

Two weeks in and I am already seeing people baring their skin in short-sleeved dresses or skirts, sporting fun ankle boots with jeans and being able to wear a cardigan or blazer without a snow jacket. What a relief!

So is your wardrobe ready for Spring? Besides all this season’s fun and fancy trends, see below for some must-have base essentials for a fresh update to your look.

The Blue Denim Jacket
I love denim because it keeps you warm on those chilly nights and cool during the warmer days. Miranda Kerr is often spotted on the streets of New York sporting hers.

The Ankle Boot
I am loving boots that cut off at the ankle with detail such as buckles, straps and small cut outs that kind of make them feel like you are wearing sandals – cool!! The Australian label AJE used ankle boots in their entire S/S 2013 runway show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week recently.

The Ankle Grazing Skinny Jean
The name says it all – a super skinny jean that cinches in just above or on your ankle is a necessity to your wardrobe! They come in any colour and pattern imaginable and go with everything! Last Thursday Christina Ricci glammed up a pair of skinny jeans white sitting front row at a New York Fashion Week show.

The Vest
Vests are huge for Spring! Add a faux-fur vest to your closet for nights out and a denim or khaki vest for a funky, fashion-forward touch to your casual/weekend look. Celebrities such as Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, Kate Bosworth or the Olsen twins (just to name a few) are lovers of the vest and have great outfit ideas for inspiration.

The Blazer
Blazers really polish off and complete a look. The tailored Blazer, again in any colour or pattern is a go-to essential for any wardrobe. Seen on the fashion week runways every year multiple times, the blazer is the number one trans-seasonal staple item.
