Welcome to the weekend, Canberra!
Two of our favourite days are Saturday and Sunday, and we bet they score quite high up on your charts, too! Actually, Friday night is just about upon us as well, so here are the Top 5 Awesome things to do this weekend.
1. GIRLS NIGHT OUT at Academy
With special guest, DJ Havana Brown, the party takes place tonight, Friday 25 July. It’s going to be an amazing night downstairs with some of Australia’s most talented ladies bringing on hours of music to have you killing it on the dancefloor. Grab and outfit and a few friends and make a big night of it – you’ve got the whole weekend to recover!
2. Antonio Carluccio cooks.
For those who make it out of bed early on Saturday morning, here’s your chance to meet one of Italy’s greatest chefs out at the Capital Region Farmers’ Market. Here to celebrate the Truffle Festival, Senor Carluccio with be signing copies of his latest book, Pasta, as well as joining a cooking demonstration with Minister for Tourism, Mr Andrew Barr. It all starts at 8.30am. Delicious!
3. The Brumbies’ season on the line
The local lads are taking it up to the Waratahs in a do-or-die Super 15 rugby Final in Sydney. There’s no need to drive up the highway, though. You can guarantee every pub and bar in town will be showing the match from 7.30pm tomorrow night. Go Brumbies!
4. AYLA at Transit Bar
Head downstairs on Saturday night and get set for the soulful stylings on songstress Ayla. With a big jazz influence, you can be guaranteed of a smokey and sultry evening in Canberra’s home for independent music.
5. Seek out some sun
Sunday is looking like a gorgeous day, so get out in the early afternoon and soak up some warming rays before the late afternoon chill kicks in. Have a picnic, go for a walk around the lake, or simply sit back in a chair at your favourite cafe or pub and treat yourself before heading back to work on Monday. We love the Canberra ‘blue sky’ winter days!
