It’s hard to believe a year has passed since this major four-day fashion event exploded on to Canberra’s social scene with confidence and style. It was an inspirational four nights, with a packed house, and this year promises to be bigger and better.

So what is the capital’s premier fashion event up to in 2014?

New designers. New music (all live). New guests on the runway—Face of Fashest Belinda Riding, international model and actor Liam Hall, high-profile model Jeremy Salter, and Olympian Alicia Coutts.

The event will be held at what is affectionately called ‘Fashfest HQ’, in a massive, raw, industrial space at the Canberra Airport. The space will be transformed with stunning lighting and sound thanks to event partner Elite Sound and Lighting. Elite has been on site for days setting up.

It’s countdown time with designers putting finishing touches on their collections and each dealing with a mix of anticipation and trepidation.

That includes designers behind labels making their debut appearance, such as All eyes on Us. Designer Ashani Madola will showcase elegant, luxurious garments at FASHFEST. She was trained in Singapore and her designs are inspired by her time in the exotic Middle East.

For the men, Braddon Tailors will be on hand with their high quality, made-to-measure garments for the style-savvy individual, created from unique materials sourced from the best mills around the world.

Favourite designers from 2013 are back, with innovative designs. Perpetually Five is launching three looks with women’s wear this year. Corr Blimey, SZN, 4 minutes 33, Karen Lee, Sovata and other local labels promise spectacular collections.

Music includes female hip hop duo Coda Conduct. All musos playing are local and all music is original. No covers or piped in music for FASHFEST.

So here we are. Opening night. Got your ticket yet?
