Who are they?
The Chinese Conservatory Orchestra features the talents of the Huaxia Chinese Orchestra of China Conservatory. From the Concert Hall of National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing to the Golden Hall in Vienna, Huaxia Chinese Orchestra of China Conservatory has travelled far and wide to transport the charm of Chinese folk music. Maestro Kuan Naichung is honoured as the orchestra’s Laureate Conductor.
Established in 1964, Huaxia Chinese Orchestra of China Conservatory is the most devoted and professional folk music orchestra in China. The orchestra delivers unique performances that have roots in traditional Chinese folk and opera music to allow the charm of the music and the oriental mystery to blend into the modern folk music style.
Huaxia Chinese Orchestra of China Conservatory will also feature the renowned Erhu soloist, Song Fei, “the Queen of Chinese folkmusic,” who has performed in the Golden Hall twice along with the China National Orchestra.Her excellent mastery in Chinese folk music will bring the diverse andfascinating Chinese cultural heritage to audiences during the moon festival.
The Moon Festival
The Moon Festival, also known as the Mid-Autumn festival, one of the most important Chinese traditional celebrations, is to be held on the 15th day of the 8th month in the Chinese calendar every year. It is an occasion for outdoor reunions among friends and family to taste mooncakes and appreciate the full moon, a symbol of harmony and unity.
