You can only laugh about it!
On Monday night, a collection of comedy stars – along with their fans – and a bunch of hardworking staff gathered to launch the 2015 Canberra Comedy Festival.
Dendy Cinemas played host to this fun affair. While the canapés circulated and champagne was swilled, punters got a chance to meet many of the comedians who will be appearing at the festival between 17 and 22 March.
Most exciting is that the Gala Event has already sold out. The Comedy Festival team need deserves the highest of high-fives, though. They’ve managed to wrangle the artists into an encore performance so that even more Canberrans will gain exposure to the broad range of comedians that are set to appear throughout the festival.
Highlights of the Gala include Mike Wilmont (Can) (performing in the Main Theatre only), Akmal Saleh, Cal Wilson, Urzila Carlson (NZ), Sammy J & Randy, Ronny Chieng, Wil Sylvince (USA), and many more.
Artistic Director of the festival, Benjamin Stevenson, was right on the money. “It has been wonderful to see Canberra embrace the Comedy Festival as an annual cultural event in the capital.
“The addition of an encore to our flag-ship opening night events shows that Canberrans love comedy and we are delighted to keep bringing it to them – bigger and better than ever in 2015.”
