You wouldn’t expect a comedy show to sell out in a matter of minutes – unless, of course, the comedian in question is Dawn French.

The good news is there is now a second show on sale – but don’t delay because this is expected to go quickly as well. Click here to get your tickets now!

Dawn French is the Queen of English Comedy. With a rich history spreading over 20 years, the long-time favourite is visiting Australia’s shores early in 2016. The great news is that a Canberra show has been added to the tour.

Fans of French can lock out Wednesday 10 February in their diaries, as the 30 million Minutes Tour enjoys a second night at Canberra Theatre Centre. Based on Dawn’s life and career, the show has already garnered widespread critical acclaim during an extensive tour of the UK. It consists of various delights and riches, with the odd irksome tribulation thrown in, as Dawn takes audiences through the various lessons life has taught her, and the things she knows for sure.

French has a long history in the British comedy scene, with a long list of award-winning roles to her credit. Also an accomplished comedy writer, she has created a stream of much-loved characters throughout her two decades on television.

Some of her most ambitious and notorious characters were a result of the long-running French and Saunders sketch programme which ran, intermittently, from 1987 until 2007. Jennifer Saunders (Edina in Absolutely Fabulous) was the perfect partner for French, and the two spent many years working on side project sand assisting each other with writing and character development.

However, it was French’s role as Geraldine Granger in The Vicar of Dibley that really cemented her as an English (and Australian!) favourite. Created by Richard Curtis (Love Actually, Four Weddings and a Funeral). Set in a fictional Oxfordshire village, the show was voted into third place by viewers in a poll Britain’s Best Sitcom, and to this day remains popular across the world thanks to it’s sharp writing and pitch-perfect performances.

French is clearly looking forward next year’s shows. “I’m sick with excitement about this solo tour. I am enjoying the fact that I can’t categorise exactly what it is, but it’s somewhere between a monologue, a play, and an autobiographical slide show with a few funnies thrown in. At last, I have had one of my three genie wishes granted, which is to work with (legendary theatre producer) Michael Grandage. The other two wishes are as yet unfulfilled. They are secret obviously, but suffice to say, one is about Barack Obama in Speedos. The other is about me in speedos, with cheesecake involved… Enough said.”

There is no doubt that tickets for this show will sell very, very quickly. Be sure to secure your place for a hilarious night with one of Britain’s most-loved writers, actors and directors: The amazing Dawn French.
