Well… it’s almost the weekend (we still have a few hours) but what better time to plan your weekend?
We have been blessed with some warm mornings this week, but then Mother Nature obviously thought, “This is not right!” and stepped in. As a result we experienced some extreme winds and a cold snap – but that shouldn’t stop you from embracing all that Canberra has to offer.
1. MOS Sessions Tour at Academy Nightclub
Friday 7.30pm
Boot up and log onto the most dominating dance hits of the year as Ministry of Sound presents Sessions 11. Spearheading the mixing is none other than the biggest stadium names in EDM and house, New World Sound! Supported by Decibelled, Felixx and Exposure. Get in before 11.00pm for $15.00 entry.
2. Ice Hockey: Canberra Brave vs Newcastle
Saturday 5.30pm
Get along to Phillip Ice Rink and support our Canberra team who still have the chance to make the Australian Ice Hockey League finals. There’ll be action, excitement and the distinct possibility of someone losing some teeth. Purchase tickets here.
3. The Sydney Comedy Festival Showcase
Saturday 7.30pm
Get your laughs on with some of the best comedy from this year’s Sydney Comedy Festival. In town for one night only, you’re guaranteed a giggle as the night’s MC, Cam Knight, introduces Nikki Britton, Greg Sullivan, musical duo Smart casual and many more. The Showcase takes the stage at The Canberra Theatre, and tickets are available here.
4. Lerida Estate Fireside Festival
From 12.30pm Sunday
Tuck yourself away Lerida Estate’s Barrel Room with a warming glass of red as Laura Tanata, a member of the Griffyn Ensemble, plays well-known classical, romantic, popular and traditional celtic harp pieces. It’s all rather lovely and sophisticated, and the perfect treat for someone special this Sunday. Click here for further details.
5. Coolio at Transit Bar
Monday night
Okay, so it’s not technically on the weekend, but this one is huge, guys! You will need the weekend to plan for this night of reminiscing to Gangsta’s Paradise. You can get up to speed on Coolio’s colourful past here.
