Canberrans just love their clubs – and with good reason. Eastlake Football Club Kingston, with its serene Inner-South setting, shows exactly why it is such a strong focus for those on this side of the lake. One of the most important parts of the experience is the food – and this is something Eastlake Bistro delivers with quality and consistency. Whether you’re in for a quick snack, or settling in for a celebratory meal, there is a long list of options that are certain to satisfy any appetite.
Sometimes you just want something to nibble at. While the Chicken Schnitzel may be a classic go-to dish when visiting a club (and with good reason – Eastlake Bistro does a beauty!) the Antipasto Plate is a great way to go. With a range of cured meats, grilled capsicum, feta and olives offers a range delicious flavours that go perfectly with a glass of wine from the comprehensive bar list.
For something more filling – and something not always seen on your typical club menu – the Butter Chicken is a flavoursome favourite that is made with skill and a real attention to its traditional flavour. The chicken has a wonderful charcoal flavour in keeping with tandoor cooking, and the sauce is rich with just a hint of spice to titillate the tastebuds without being overwhelming.
To take your steak game up a level, you’d be mad not to take on the Fillet Mignon. The 250g piece of choice Eye Fillet comes wrapped in everybody’s favourite – bacon and presents as a delicious tower atop steamed vegetables and a creamy mash. The meat is lightly seared with a beautiful criss-crossed patterned from it’s time on the grill, but remains pink and moist inside. It’s steak as it should be: subtle, delicate and filled with flavour.
To finish, it’s time for something sweet, and there is always room for dessert. On this occasion, a Strawberry Tart was on offer, and it was a fitting way to end the meal. Fresh, crumbling pastry holds a rich and velvety filling, served with light and delicious whipped cream and fresh strawberries. Delicious.
