It’s no Autobot but a driverless car has been spotted in Canberra.
Meet EZ10. It’s not technically a car, as it has no steering wheel and no specific front or rear. EZ10 is an electric driverless shuttle meant for public transportation and sits up to 12 people.
Transdev has teamed up with autonomous vehicle manufacturer EasyMile and network technology partner Telstra to present the 2017/18 Australasian Driverless Roadtrip.
The shuttle runs back and forth on a single traffic lane, cruising at a speed of 25km/hour – but it’s not about speed, it’s about covering short distances where conventional means of transportation aren’t relevant.
Fleets of EZ10 are currently operating in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia.
EZ10 was spotted at the City Walk on Monday morning – get out and check it out!
