Musical comedy powerhouse The Stevenson Experience are returning to the Canberra Theatre Centre to perform their new show at the Canberra Comedy Festival on March 20 & 21. We had a quick chat one of the brothers, James, to find out what doing a show with your brother is really like.

First things first, tell us a bit about your show?
Our show this year is called Who Dares Twins and I want to say it explores family and siblings and what it really means to be a success, but really it is an hour of hilarious songs and jokes wrapped up in our signature style. We had a few surprises in store last year that went down a treat, so I hope you like what we are bringing this year!

You had a big year last year didn’t you?
Last year was massive, we sold out at all the major comedy festivals and even performed at The Opera House, which was a dream come true. We also had some seriously rocking shows in Canberra, and it has been really great to have fans come and see us now who are familiar with our work!

What excites you about The Canberra Comedy Festival?
It’s always nice to play to our home crowd, but Canberra Comedy Festival is really something special. We get to play in one the nicest venues in the country and we get to play to generous laughter filled audiences. What wouldn’t excite me!

And what excites you about Canberra?
I love Floriade. And I’m not joking, that place is awesome. We did a run of 5 shows there last year and the audiences blew my mind. I’m also excited because I have a lot of friends and family in Canberra so it’s always nice to go home.

You clearly have a strong relationship with your brother, is there ever any rivalry between you?
Um, yes. All day, every day. We try to use this dynamic to our advantage though, so we rarely ever fight. It helps that I always win.

So who is the superior twin?
Clearly I am. I was born 15 minutes later which means I am 15 minutes smarter and more handsome. Also I’m the one answering these, so I can say what I like!

Any final thoughts?
I can’t wait to get back to the Capital and hang out with our totally awesome crowds! See you in March!
