To celebrate Canberra’s birthday on Monday 11th March, a whole fun-filled day of events has been organised around Lake Burley Griffin. Here are a few pointers on how to make your day as easy as possible.

It is best to enter the site at the ‘Welcome’ event based at Regatta Point, although you can enter at any point around Lake Burley Griffin. Don’t have a wallet full of money? Don’t worry about it – all events on the day are free, with the exception of the Bubbly Bars, which is a ticketed event.

Because Canberra weather is quite unpredictable at this time of the year, it is a good idea to come prepared. Pack sunscreen, a hat and a picnic blanket. If you are bringing chairs, please bring chairs that are low to the ground and be considerate of others when choosing your spot.

The Centenary Loop bus and the MV Southern Cross ferry are there to help you get around the event and are both free. The bus departs daily from Platform 10 at the City Bus Station, every 30 minutes from 9am – 4.30pm, with various stops around the Parliamentary Triangle. The ferry will be operating between Regatta Point and Commonwealth Place.
