Cult pioneer of performance art, Glitta Supernova, is bringing her award-winning live show to ‘Smith’s Alternative’ in Canberra, as part of the Canberra SpringOUT Pride Festival.
Glitta Supernova is one of Australia’s most revered alternative performance artists, and describes her new show as ‘a fun nudie run through a different lens’. A mix of burlesque and experimental theatre, along with satirical, personal and political storytelling, Body Map doesn’t pull any punches.
In a world of rife with consumerism and unrealistic standards of beauty and perfection, Glitta Supernova’s message of anti-establishment pulls you in and shakes you around. Expect stories of the 80s punk and 90s club scenes and beyond, that haven’t been ‘sanitised or curated for likes’, told in a way only Glitta can pull off.
Body Map has received a total of 6 nominations and 3 awards, including Top Gong ‘Best in Fringe 2017’, ‘Best Cabaret 2017’, and ‘Most Outstanding Performer’. Glitta Supernova has been independently creating her original work for over 20 years, and at Body Map you can expect ‘more anarchy bingles and chaos than you can poke a stick at’.
The Canberra SpringOUT Pride Festival is coordinated by the Canberra SpringOUT Organisation, who aim to support the diverse LGBTIQ communities within the capital. Their mission is to organise events of celebration and pride, and to provide opportunities for creative expression within LGBTIQ communities.
Body Map will be held on Friday 10 November, at Smith’s Alternative, 76 Alinga St, from 9pm. Tickets for the show can be purchased here.
