Lifeline Canberra’s vintage store in Braddon, Hipsley Lane, has now officially been open for one month and people just can’t get enough. Not just specializing in vintage clothes, Hipsley Lane also carries a wide variety of pre-loved books too, as well as other little trinkets.
Commercial Enterprise Manager for Lifeline, Karen Bustamante is absolutely blown away from the amount of support Hipsley Lane has received over the past month.
“The support of the community has been amazing. All our retail staff are experienced, but they are volunteers. We even have people volunteering to wash and iron clothes”.
One hundred percent of proceeds go directly back to Lifeline Canberra and all the clothes are sourced from America and are all a-grade quality. Karen has also just found another supplier from Japan so Hipsley Lane will be offering vintage Japanese clothes soon too.
Hipsley Lane is also introducing ‘pop-up’ stores in Westfield Belconnen in early November so you can pick up a unique Christmas present or find that perfect summer outfit.
In conjunction with Hipsley Lane, another Lifeline Canberra project is the coffee van, Bean Talkin. The Bean Talkin van drives all over Canberra and attends events, serving up steaming coffee and sausage sizzles. Gus’s Café helps train the volunteers and all proceeds go to Lifeline Canberra. On Thursday 25th October, Hipsley Lane is holding a VIP night for their summer preview launch. Everything will be on sale (including books) and tickets are $15. You will receive a VIP card and there will be nibbles and champagne.
