Legends Spanish Restaurant can be found on Franklin Street, one of the most popular dining spots in Manuka. This traditional restaurant has been operating for more 15 years and remains very popular. Having relocated to the first floor of the Capital Theatre Building, restaurant manager Tim Stewart proudly says that this spot – and their recent re-vamp – is one they intend to keep for a while.

The scent of a feast-in-the-making fills the air and is the first thing diners notice while walking up the stairs to the restaurant. The dining room is large and each table is presented with red flowers and candles while soft Spanish music is on in the background. The arched windows which look out onto the patio gives the feel of being on the streets of Barcelona, while the walls are filled with newspaper clippings and paintings/prints/photos of famous Spaniards -adding to a sense of history.

But what of the food – the main reason foodies have flocked to this Iberian outpost for so many years? The olives and feta in oil, together with the Jamon (imported Spanish Ham with grilled ciabata bread) are a great combination of starters.

When it comes to the entrée you can choose from the vegetarian, meat or seafood menu. The Cigalas is a popular seafood dish, comprised of scampi set in saffron and covered in a delicious cream & vermouth sauce. Chorizo is always a great choice – the traditional pork and paprika sausage full of flavor (and a little bit spicy!).

The Traditional Paella of chicken and fresh seafood mixed in saffron rice is a favourite among customers old and new as a main meal. Served in a traditional paella dish, it has a rustic and homely feeling. If you can finish this dish and still order dessert you are a Legend!

One of the highlights of the dining experience at Legends is the home-made, traditional Sangria. The refreshing and more-ish (Moorish?) mixture of sweet and tangy and goes well together with all the dishes.

Legend’s dessert menu has five mouth-watering choices. The Churros – Spanish doughnuts in cinnamon sugar with hot chocolate sauce and vanilla bean ice cream is a perfect execution of the traditional Spanish dessert and the Flan de Nata – Spanish rich crème caramel served with caramalised fig ice cream was a tasty combination of flavours.

Legends Spanish Restaurant is the perfect place to visit for any occasion. Be it with a partner for a night out, or a celebration with friends, the fun and exuberant flavours of Spain are here to delight groups of all sizes. Feeling hungry?
