Bram Stoker’s Dracula has been transformed for the stage by Australian contemporary company, Shake & Stir and will be playing at Canberra Theatre from 26-29 April.
With its distinctive Australian aesthetic style, Shake & Stir have adapted the world-renowned horror novel, that is Dracula, into a thrilling and captivating on-stage production.
The 1897 gothic horror novel by Irish author, Bram Stoker, is a classic story about, you guessed it, Count Dracula – the world-famous, blood-sucking vampire.
According to Shake & Stir, the story of Dracula has never been as important and relevant as it is now. From novel, to film, to on-stage production, Dracula is the definition of fear, which unleashes the terror we have in our society and ourselves.
The new gripping and critically acclaimed production follows a young lawyer, Jonathan Harker when he visits Castle Dracula in the Carpathian Mountains. Harker doesn’t expect the strange but hospitable welcome he receives from his dark and mysterious host. Jonathan becomes trapped in the castle and realises Dracula is after more than what is being served at the dinner table. After leaving Harker for dead, Dracula travels to London to seek seduction, true love and ultimately, blood.
Shake & Stir have previously produced the multi-award winning and national touring productions 1984 and Animal Farm, so its newest production of Stocker’s timeless, twisted tale has, by no surprise has already been a hit across NSW.
Tickets for the show range from $35.00 – $55.00 at Canberra Theatre Centre. But be quick, tickets are selling fast and you don’t want to miss out on this one!
