If you needed just one indication of just how far the local hospitality scene has come in the last 12 months, it would have to be record number of nominations for the ACT Australian Hotels Association’s Hospitality Awards.
Following strong growth in new bars, hotels and restaurants in Canberra, around 110 nominations have been received across more than 30 Award categories, involving leading accommodation hotels, licensed venues as well as outstanding hospitality employees.
First-time finalists include Hopscotch bar in Braddon, the 5-star Avenue Hotel in Braddon, Marble & Grain restaurant, Bentspoke Brewery, Blackfire Restaurant, The District bar at Crace, and The Dock and Walt & Burley at the Kingston Foreshore.
So, who will be announced as Canberra’s best? The big night is on tonight at The National Convention Centre where the stars of Canberra hospitality will gather in their finest suits and frocks to celebrate the industry together in a night that is always an amazing party.
