The Deck is situated on top of Regatta Point overlooking the picturesque Lake Burley Griffin. The views are 360 degrees and are quite breath-taking.
We are seated at our table inside as we await the entrée. The area inside is large and airy and the deck area outside is much the same. With modern outdoor furniture on the deck, it looks like a great place for afternoon drinks in the warmer weather or a latte (with an outdoor heater) in the winter months.
Our entrée arrived – Salt & pepper calamari with citrus, rocket salad and lime aioli. The calamari was piping hot and unbelievably fresh. The batter was crispy and light and the aioli gave it a zesty taste. The serving size was just right and the dish itself was perfectly balanced.
At The Deck, the menu is an assortment of modern Australian dishes and you can definitely tell it is made with love by the chef, Jose. Jose has been working as a chef in Sydney for 12 years until recently, working at the Hilton Matt Moran’s restaurant, ARIA.
The main is served – a homemade beef burger with bacon, rocket, onion jam, Swiss cheese, tomato and beetroot on a toasted brioche bun with a side of chips. The beef patty is moist and cooked to perfection and the brioche bun is fluffy on the inside. This is without a doubt, a gourmet burger.
The Deck is open for lunch seven days a week and they also do functions. This venue is perfect for a lazy Sunday brunch or the ideal spot for a wedding reception.
