Collector Wines Tiger Tiger Chardonnay has been recognised back to back at the Canberra and Region Wine Show. This year saw Collector take out the trophy for their 2017 Tiger Tiger Chardonnay, whereas last year it was the wineries previous vintage, the 2016 Tiger Tiger Chardonnay.
The fresh, powerful, and beautifully balanced chardonnay is a local wine to be reckoned with. Not to mention its ability to pair impeccably with seafoods white meats and salty or aged cheeses.
“Our chardonnay comes from sites high in the beautiful Tumbarumba region, just south of Canberra, with deep granite soils,” winemaker Alex McKay says. “In Tumbarumba with its many interesting sites, and slightly higher rainfall and humidity, we get great concentration of flavour and pristine fruit with more acid.”
“We hand-harvest and whole-bunch press the grapes, and then conduct wild fermentation in barrel, in a mix of seasoned and new French oak, and a full, clean malolactic fermentation. Grapefruit, lemon curd and a nicely moderated flinty characteristic make for a taut, yet powerfully complex style of chardonnay. The wine’s freshness and purity leaps from the glass.”
The vineyards provenance means it can be aged up to twenty years! So you can enjoy the award winning drop now or put some aside to enjoy in time.
