Six more sleeps and Santa is here!
For many people, today is the last day of the working year. For others, it’s the last weekend before everything shuts down next week.
Regardless of where you fall, here are our hot tips for what to do and where to go this weekend!.
Enjoy!
1. Eat and Drink at The Hamlet
All weekend.
Canberra’s food vans have arrived – in a stationary kind of way.
Confined to the old Beaurepaires site on Lonsdale Street in Braddon, a collection of caravans and trucks have laid down roods to create Canberra’s coolest food court!
Brod Dog has got a lot of attention, but if you want to see something extraordinary, check out the two-foot-long King Roll from Spit Shack. It’s amazing. Unnecessary… but amazing.
2. Shopping at Canberra Centre
All weekend.
Make your list and check it twice! Shopping gets serious from here-on in as extended trading hours kick in to high gear.
Whether shopping for him or her, young or old, you’ll find something for everyone in the cool, calm and collected halls of the Canberra Centre.
Plus free gift-wrapping! Woot!
3. It’s a Wonderful Life at Palace Electric Cinema
Saturday and Sunday from 10.30am
It might be 60 years old, but this charming tale of Christmas spirit is as wonderfully warming as ever. Marvel at how they used to make ‘em in the good ol’ days as Jimmy Stewart leads a stellar cast of post-war favourites.
Bring your mum. And tissues.
4. Pharoahe Monch at Transit Bar
8.00pm Saturday.
Simon says you need to be here. Supported by (the return of) local favourites D’Opus & Roshambo, Jimmy Pike, Coda Conduct, Lash, and Flawlezz – Transit Bar wants to celebrate their last Friday of the year in full force.
5. W-League Final on the telly!
3.00pm Sunday
It’s one of the biggest participation sports in Canberra, and Canberra United’s W-League team is proof of the high level of skill demonstrated throughout the local competition.
This Sunday afternoon, they play the W League final against The Glory in Perth. Sadly, this will be the last time W-League is shown on free-to-air TV, so lob into your local or settle back on the couch and cheer on our team to the premiership.
Have fun, y’all… and look after each other throughout the festive season.
