While we will all be sad to see Canberra’s most beautiful festival come to an end, after an incredible month of colourful blooms, non-stop entertainment and illuminated nights, Floriade concludes on a ‘Dogs Day Out’ high.
Sunday 13 October from 9.30am to 5.30pm will see Commonwealth Park flood with adorable pooches. The all-day free public event is the most anticipated day for local pet lovers!
All pups, big and small, are invited to soak up the sunshine and explore grounds. Floriade has arranged speciality stores just for dogs, plus pups will be privy to impressive displays, pampering, photos and lots of tail-wagging activities around the park. The Pooch Parlour by Divine Canine will be pampering the pooches with blueberry facemasks and pawdicures.
Dancing with Dogs is an overly entertaining dog dancing demo to teach clever canine (and you) some basic tricks. Don’t forget to dress up in your best worldly attire, Fashions on the Field is encouraging Globe Trotting pup-fashion – you can enter your pawsome pup on the day.
Don’t miss the Breed Group Photos, or the bloggers who roam the ground each year to create Canberra’s cutest dog listicles. Pugs, Dalmatians, German Shepherds and Greyhounds and Poodles are called upon for this priceless snapshot. Check the pup-arazzi program to find out when your dog’s breed will be photographed.
For those who really want to make the most of the weekend with their four-legged pals; Doga (Dog Yoga) will be running from 9.45-10.45 on Sunday 13 October at Dogs Day Out. It’s essentially the most ideal Sunday morning in Canberra. Think beautiful gardens, relaxing yoga, and cuddles with all the furry friends roaming around and showing off the downward dog poses.
Doga instructor and Vet nurse Jordan will lead visitors through a series of yoga postures, stretching, meditation and play, giving you and your pooch a non-traditional form of yoga exploring movement and play dynamics in a mindful way.
It’s a gentle and super fun session where owners and their dog work and play as partners. All people and all dogs are welcome, and no previous experience is needed, you can get your tickets here.
The RSPCA will be hosting an interactive ‘Kids and Kritters’ session on the Main Vista Village Stage, providing tips and training care on how to be a responsible pet owner.

Please only bring your pooch to Dogs’ Day Out if they are socialised and generally non-aggressive towards people and other dogs. Make sure they’re fully vaccinated, and keep them on a leash at all times. Bring a doggie bag and stick to designated paths.
