This is a great example of ‘Googonian’ – something that’s typical of the lifestyle being developed out at Googong. Come Saturday night, being enporched is just one way to enjoy Googfest – a free live music festival featuring national and local artists, hosted in the heart of the Googong township.
(Well, perhaps leave the book at home!)
Dami Im stars!
It’s all happening from 5.00pm this Saturday (7 February) at Beltana Park in Googong. Join the winner of 2013’s X Factor, Dami Im as she headlines the show. She’s had two top ten albums, a number one song, and a couple of top twenties to go with it – not bad for 18 months work! Dami is a massive hit with fans, and knows how to entertain the crowd, so it will be amazing to see her perform… for free!
Big Boss Groove and Lavers
Big Boss Groove is surely one of the most fun live acts doing the rounds of Canberra, bringing their unique big-brass-band sound to funk and soul classics. They’re a highly polished outfit guaranteed to get you dancing, and they’ll kick-start the night from 5.00pm.
Lavers is another favourite local band that brings an indie-folk edge to the evening’s performances. You can expect great melodies, with dedicated fans singing along to their catchy choruses. Certainly a band to keep an eye on, it’s great to see the three lads taking the stage for Googfest.
More X-Factor!
But that’s certainly not all! Another X-Factor favourite is set to take the stage with last year’s contestant, the adorable Victorian bringing her bubbly personality to Googfest. Mary-Ann van Der Horst has a great love of Rhianna, Beyoncé and SIA, so you can expect some soaring tunes.
There will be plenty of food available from stalls all evening or bring a picnic and blanket – don’t worry about lugging along a heavy esky. Just grab a blanket, a jacket and a bunch of friends and family, and settle in for a fun evening of great music.

Free Bus Schedule
Free shuttle buses will be picking up from Queanbeyan Interchange at 4.15pm, and from Bay 18 Woden Interchange at 4.00pm.
Return buses will depart Googong at 9.30pm.
