2 Days in Paris was Delpy’s directorial debut and heralded a filmmaker with a distinctive voice that owed something to the quirkiness of early Woody Allen. She returns with 2 Days in New York, once again as writer, director, as well as playing the lead. Picking up a few years down the line, back in NYC, Marion’s new beau is Mingus, a radio host and journalist played by Chris Rock, whose life will be upended by a two-day visit from Marion’s French family. The different cultural backgrounds held by her American boyfriend, her eccentric father and his sister Rose make for an explosive mix.
