1. Scandinavian Film Festival at Palace Electric Cinemas

Right now, across Scandinavia, it’s delightfully warm. Cosy up with a friend or two in Palace electric and take in some of the amazing films that make up this year’s programme.
For an interesting ride, check out the Icelandic movie, Rams. If it’s anything like the country’s musical efforts, you’ll be in for something pretty unique!

2. Whiskey trail all across Canberra

This week, our intrepid writer, Sam Kennedy-Hine, took a look at the best places to settle in for a whiskey. Why not follow his path? Canberra’s bars are the best place to investigate the different flavours and styles from distilleries from Tasmania to Scotland.
We suggest you start with the Irish or Japanese and finish with the Islays. Between those styles there’s a world of tempting tastes to try.

3. Canberra Mustangs Tryouts Oval 6 – University of Canberra.
Saturday from 10:30am
We’re big fans of the Canberra Mustangs. Rarely do you meet a team so utterly focussed on fitness, health and supporting each other. It’s really inspiring to be around.
Much like Roller Derby, American Football is a sport than requires all sizes and abilities, so if you’re looking for a great new way to train and exercise, head down to UC and meet the great girls from the Mustangs and give it a shot!

4. World Curry Festival in Garema Place
11.00am – 9.00pm Saturday and 11.00am – 6.00pm Sunday
It might be a little strange that curries – largely designed to bring on a cooling sweat in tropical climates – are being celebrated in the coldest week of the year so far. Still, we predict swathes of Canberrans will want to wrap their hands around something warm from India, Thailand, Egypt and Sri Lankan dishes.
You should join them.

5. A Pooch Affair at Exhibition Park in Canberra

Love your dog? Well, take your four-legged friend along to EPIC on Saturday for the full treatment. You can never lavish enough attention on your pooch, so check out the latest trends through the Doggie Mall – and there’s even a High tea in the afternoon.
