A few months ago, FASHFEST 2016 called upon budding filmmakers to create six original films reflecting this year’s six event themes – reverie, furore, praxis, limina, spectra and singularity – and recently, the winners were announced!
The chosen filmmakers will have their original film kick start each show, with the event now just over a week away. All they had to do was follow a simple brief – don’t be afraid to push the boundaries to create a memorable guest experience.
Filmmakers had to also link the theme to Canberra, inspiring the audience to see Australia’s capital from a different vantage point, and each film had to integrate a music track from one of the official musicians selected for the 2016 event.
The six lucky filmmakers are, Jonathan Holden, Justene Taylor-Cannnon, Micael Ortiz, Michael Kosmider, Sebastian Chan and Stephan and Andrew Robinson. Each brings a unique sense of style, creativity, technology and expertise to the three-day event, and FASHFEST goers can expect the unexpected, with a spectacularly diverse range of genres including sci-fi, thriller and fantasy.
Led by Georgina Jenkins of By George Studios, this year’s filmmakers are brought to you by the ACT Screen Industry Association and CIT Student Association.
Georgina takes on the role of FASHFEST Creative Producer of Film, and is also a writer and producer of award-winning short films; including Past Imperfect and documentary In the Canne. Georgina teams up with FASHFEST Creative Director of Film and multi-award-winning cinematographer, Robb Shaw-Velzen.
Robb has travelled the globe shooting for Survivor, HBO’s The Pacific and Good Morning Britain. He has also won 13 Australian Cinematographers Society Awards, including a coveted Golden Tripod. Together Georgina and Robb are set to create one of the most memorable fashion and film experiences in Canberra.
