Meet Ashley Feraude (aka Magnifik). As part of our Young People Doing Cool S#!% series, we shine a light on his decade-long music career and recent release of ‘The Gentleman of Disco’ his second full-length 15 track album.
Let’s start where it all began…
Academy Club – Ashley started out on the music scene as a resident DJ at one of Canberra’s favourite nightclubs, and quickly became well-known to party-goers and EDM lovers. But dropping banger after banger every weekend soon became a thing of the past for Ashley, as he and his own personal brand grew into a more mature look and feel.
While the ‘gentleman’ look was always Ashley’s persona – along with polished and structured suits – he felt the direction of his music was also taking a more mature route.
After many years of building his networks in Canberra and Sydney, Ashley is a now regular at corporate events and brand activations. His Gentleman of Disco vibe is highly sought after and he says he is proud of the current audience. Future plans include expanding to Europe where, according to Soundcloud, he’s build a large following.
Two years in the making, the ‘The Gentleman of Disco’ contains all original works ranging from nu-disco, soul and hip hop through to synth pop and classic house. This is very much a celebration of Canberra talent, featuring vocalists Andrea Kirwin, Xavier Dunn, NeonHoney, Kayo Marbilus, Liam Budge and Monica Styles.
Ashley tells us the album came about very organically. In fact, it wasn’t even planned! The album is a collection of songs written by Ashley over a 24 month period, through ups and downs, different emotions and situations. It’s a true representation of the true musician and talent inside, inspired by his love of soul and disco from the 80s & 90s.
Thanks Ashley!
