The New York Times recently named Canberra as the best place to live in the world! And we definitely agree.

We hit our beautiful streets and asked fellow Canberrans ‘What do you love most about living in Canberra?’

Here’s some of the responses we got:

1. “You can really take as much or as little as you want from living in Canberra. If you prefer a quiet, private lifestyle then it is easy to be maintained. There is an abundance of wide open spaces, quiet roads and nestled suburbs that will tick all the boxes. However if being social or adventurous is more your calling, then there are forever increasing opportunities right at your door step. With the introduction of the New Action precinct and the growth we are seeing in Canberra’s ‘must visit’ locations, you will never be caught short for places to get out and experience all that Canberra has to offer.” – Anonymous

2. “I love that Canberra isn’t an incredibly congested city and even although everything is quite spaced out – we have so much beautiful open space and clean (relatively) unpolluted air. I love our lakes – they are so beautiful throughout the year. We are pretty close to everything – its a short drive to the coast/snow/sydney. So you can easily get away for the weekend if you want too. I really like that Canberra is becoming more cultural and trendy – we now have so many awesome little cafes and bars opening up – its really exciting.” – Sarah

3. “That there always seems to be some sort of new spot to check out, like a café or restaurant. It’s a very social place to live in. Also Canberra has a feeling of a smaller community rather than a big city. People seem closer together as a whole rather than in Sydney or Melbourne.” – Olivia

5. “Situated between the snowy mountains and the beautiful south coast, Canberra provides an idyllic location to live. Packed full of vibrant cafes, bars and restaurants, you can enjoy a wide variety of entertainment and activities….without having to suffer through any traffic!” – Phil

6. “That you can travel from one side of the city to the other in less than an hour. Other major cities get bulked up in traffic, so the idea of having breakfast in the rolling hills of Tuggeranong, to then be shopping for fashion in Belconnen, to then sharing a glass of wine on the foreshore is absolutely achievable.” – Mikela

7. “I Love Canberra because its 2hours from the snow, 2 hours from the coast. 3 hours from sydney. Its a city with having to deal with hours of traffic! Its a central hub close to everything.” – Christopher
