Here’s a bunch of fun things to do if you are looking for inspiration and something to brighten up your two days of leisure!

1. Groovin’ the ANU at ANU Bar
Friday Night from 8.00pm

This great initiative gives up-and-coming local bands the chance to strut their stuff in front of a bigger audience than their bedroom. Entry is free, the bands play for free and you never know… the next Peking Duk or SAFIA might take the stage tonight! Lineup: The Gaps, Khalasar, PJ Michael, Sewer Sideshow.

A great chance to have a fun night out while supporting our local talent!

2. Floriade 2014 at Commonwealth Park
Open every day from 9.00am Saturday

It’s the LAST weekend of Floriade, make sure you make some time to go and have a look around at all the pretty flowers, enjoy the oodles of entertainment happening on almost every corner AND on Saturday you could even take part in Alan Tongue’s BIG BOOT CAMP!

DIY demonstrations from Barry Du Bois’ (Channel Ten’s The Living Room) will be happening on both Saturday and Sunday so if you are looking for some handy tips and tricks, head to the Inspiration Hub between 10:30am – 11:00am & 11:30am – 12:00pm and Bunnings Garden between 2:00pm – 3:00pm & 3:30pm – 4:30pm!

3. Olympic Ayres at Transit Bar
Friday night from 8.00pm. Free entry.

The Sydney duo are back to share live versions of their latest tracks from their upcoming EP titled ‘Leisureplex’ (due for release September 18th)

This will be the band’s first national tour for 2014 and the first chance to hear the new EP in full along with tracks from their other releases.

4. Fash ‘n’ Treasure at EPIC
Saturday from 10.00am

Fash ‘n’ Treasure is a stylish market bringing together fashion designers, fashion shops, milliners, stylists and vintage sellers. Held once a month at EPIC, there is always something fashionable to take home and add to your wardrobe!

5. H.I.P Night at Lucky’s, QT Canberra
Monday from 7:00pm until late

An absolute institution in Canberra, it’s always great to get out of the city and stroll through the leafy surrounds of the heritage-listed Gorman House. This weekend’s ‘Spring Fling’ sees the usual trinkets on sale, amazing food, a poetry slam, heaps of music, and the opportunity to pick up some fantastic (and cheap!) vintage clothing.
