Tip 1: Make it personal

Anyone can pick up a box of chocolates and a bunch of flowers from their local Woollies but, come on, man… you’re better than that! Why not go to a boutique chocolate shop – like Koko Black – and fill a box with individual chocolates that you have selected yourself? Tailor it to her love of fudge or truffles or flavours she loves.

As for flowers, The Floral Society have just opened up their very own DIY Flower Bar in Kingston. Show your creative side and take your lady with you so you can both build her the perfect bunch of flowers. You’ll get massive Brownie points for the out-of-the-box idea (and we won’t tell her where you got it from!).

Tip 2: Make it private

Going out to dinner is great for your routine middle-of-the-week date. This is Valentine’s Day make it special with a private, secluded dining experience. Put together a picnic and share it with your lady love at her favourite park or lookout. You don’t need to be smack-bang in the middle of 20 other couples at a crowded restaurant – Valentine’s Day should be all about the two of you!

Tip 3: Make it all about her

Sorry lads! Surely you realise by now that Valentine’s Day is all about her? Any plans you make please remember this vital tip: She wants to feel special and loved and that’s where you come in. Make sure you show your softer side by including a sweet message in a nice card. Ladies love a good hand-written card!

Tip 4: Surprise her

Make the whole day a chain of special moments and little surprises. Instead of one cute gift, put together a chain of gifts that lead into the next special moment. Keep her guessing and surprise her by revealing how romantic and thoughtful you can be.

You’ll enjoy the smile on her face. Trust us!

Tip 5: Plan ahead

I know you think that the dream is to have a spontaneous partner, but spontaneity does not mean making up Valentine’s Day as you go along. Chances are that something will go wrong and you won’t hear the end of it! So secure a plan now, start preparing and make the day perfect.
