1. Matt Okine
Zierholz @ UC – Friday night from 7.30pm
He’s not just a voice wafting from your bedside radio prior to hitting the snooze button. Triple J’s Matt Okine has an entire body, and uses it with great energy during his hilarious stand-up. Grab a ticket and head to Zierholz tonight to see one of Australia’s funniest comedians in full swing.

2. Commit No Nuisance Art Battle
La Di Da – Friday night from 8.00pm
Is it art? Is it graffiti? Who knows, but grab yourself a beer or wine and watch as some of Canberra’s best street artists head into La Di Da and battle it out in a flurry of brushes, acrylics and your skirt (if you don’t move out of the way fast enough)

It’s always an amazing to watch the creative magic unfold, so be sure to get in early to secure a good spot.

3. The Israeli Film Festival
Palace Electric Cinemas until Sunday 31 August

It’s a great opportunity to cast a light upon a culture too often seen through the lens of conflict and tension. This year’s Israeli Film Festival brings an amazing range of short films, documentaries and features to the fore. Grab a book of tickets and save yourself some shekels.

4. Courtney Love
ANU Bar – Saturday Night.

Is it a 90s rock goddess? Is it a trainwreck? Regardless, it’s Courtney Love, and you just never know what is going to happen when this lady takes the stage. Aside from the drama, she has some killer songs in her repertoire, so head over to ANU and see what the last decade of last millennium really looked like.

5. Blackfire Restaurant
It’s the latest kid on the Braddon block, bringing open-fire roasted deliciousness to the Northside masses. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, it’s a cosy and comfortable join that you’ll never want to leave. Bring a pillow.

BONUS THING! Geoscience Australia Open Day
Sunday from 10.00am until 3.00pm
Got a thing for rocks? Awesome. However the Geoscience Australia Open Day is a whole lot more than that. In a building heated by geothermal power, built on a fault line and contains a giant screen that shows every earthquake in the Indian Ocean, there some amazing stuff for kids large and small.
