My God! Thirty-one degrees in Canberra today. If that doesn’t get you excited about the weekend to come, we don’t know what will. If you’re looking for inspiration to fill the coming days, have a look at our pick of things to do in the coming days.
1. Eden Road Pop-up Bar at Parlour Wine Room
Friday from 5.00pm
There’s no two ways about it, this afternoon is going to be STUNNING! What better then, than to kick back on the balcony at Parlour Wine Room in NewActon and treat yourself to a well-earned beer or wine?
There will be 2-for-1 tapas, DJs on the deck and plenty of fun times as Canberra’s most sophisticated boozer celebrates its first birthday since re-opening.
2. Hallowe’en Festivities All across Canberra
After sunset, Friday.
Undoubtedly some of the outfits will push the boundaries of taste, but it seems Canberrans are embracing this annual opportunity to dress up as outlandishly as possible.
There are events happening all across the city, with Loft @ Duxton, Debacle, Knightsbridge Penthouse, Hopscotch, Uni Pub and Mooseheads throwing parties to welcome All Hallow’s Evening. Dress up or just sit back and watch. It will be hilarious.
3. Stitch Apparel Launch at La De Da
Saturday from 4.00pm – late.
Stitch Apparel wants you to attend their official launch! Stitch Apparel is a Canberra unisex label that rocks a cool, clean look that is straight up juicy.
Celebrate the launch of this fresh new label with a toast of tasty treats at La De Da in Belconnen on 1 November.
Hosted by Indighost, beats and Hip Hop will be the theme of the night, with some of Canberra’s finest on display for your listening pleasure. There will be live art by Stitch designer TJ Boyd and shirt printing by the Stitch Boys – Chris Thorley & Davey Barber.
4. Thelma Plum at Transit Bar
She’s gorgeous, she a can certainly sing. Head down to Transit Bar to see another incredible act as Thelma Plum bring her extraordinary voice and haunting music to the subterranean venue.
Touring Australia to promote her album, Monsters this is another feather in the cap of what is quickly becoming Canberra’s favourite live music venue. Tickets are $18.40 and are available here.
5. The Melbourne Cup Thoroughbred Park
Tuesday from 10.00am
Chuck a sickie, wag uni… just do whatever it takes for a fun day at The Track. As Bob Hawke said, “Anyone who sacks someone for not coming to work today is a bum!”
There’ll be plenty on at the track – live music, food, the betting ring and, apparently, some horse racing. One of the social highlights is always the Canberra Outlet Centre Fashions on the Field competition, showing only the most stylish of Canberrans up on stage competing for a swag of prizes.
Have fun, y’all!
