Dear God. Here we are, deep in the flux of the Canberra summer – and absolute stinker today, and then down to 22 on Sunday!

Still, everything this weekend is running hot! Here are five things to do as we race headlong towards Christmas.

1. Forbidden Fridays at PJ O’Reilly’s Tuggeranong
Friday from 5.00pm. Dancers from 11.00pm

Hooray for something to do at night in The Valley! Tonight, PJ’s launches a new theme for Fridays brought to you by Alize. There’ll be cheap margaritas after work, (perfect for a hot evening!), plenty of giveaways, and a bit of dancing on the bar top later in the evening! Grab a $10.00 Forbidden cocktail, and get yo’ ass to the dance floor!

2. Michelle Bridges at The Get Active Expo
Saturday from 11.30am – 12.30pm.

Head out to the Get Active Expo to see one of Australia’s most inspirational people, Michelle Bridges, as she helps you find your way to a better lifestyle. Tens of thousands of people have participated in her Ten Week Body Transformation, and this is your chance to get up-close-and-personal with the lady herself.

3. Freq Out for Radiothon at Gorman House
Friday from 8.00pm

2XX is a really important part of the heart and soul of Canberra. As a community-based arts channel, it’s where a lot of bands had their first start, and where other talented Canberrans get to mix and create all the cool stuff we love in our city.

None of this comes for free, however – money must be raised. Why not kick in the tin and head down to Gorman House tonight and listen to some great Canberra Bands including Slow Turismo, Bruges and Coda Conduct. Entry is $10.00, and all funds raised go to keeping the station doing its awesome work.

4. Husky at Transit Bar
Saturday from 8.00pm.

Over the past 18 months, Melbourne band Husky, have been meticulously crafting their second album Rucker’s Hill. Fittingly, the band members have dusted off their suitcases, packed up their instruments and taken to the open road to tour throughout November and December to mark the album’s release.

Transit Bar will be your host. Your ears will love the music as much as your tastebuds will love Transit’s delicious beer.

24 hours a day until next weekend.

You’re here. You’re reading this…. Why haven’t you voted? This is the one time a year you get to tell the rest of the city what it is that you love about Canberra. We want to know your favourite places for a coffee, a night out, a show, a meal or just a day out in the sun. Plus… you could WIN!
