Welcome back weekend! We’ve missed you since Monday!
You might have thought hat with the Canberra long weekend over and Enlighten all packed up for another year that the city would take a breath and relax for the weekend…
Ha! Not a chance!
There’s plenty happening over the next couple of days. Here’s just a taste of it.
Enjoy!
1. Fresh Licks at La De Da
Friday from 5.00pm
Sounds saucy, doesn’t it? And it is! Join the team at La De Da this Friday as they celebrate a new look, new cocktails, new beers and new wines throughout the venue. It’s going to be a massive party that runs all night until they roll into the after-party for RAW Grandeur
Join the crème-de-la-crem of the arts scene in one of Canberra’s coolest venues. What fun!
2. Battle of the Bands Grand Final at Transit Bar
Friday from 8.00pm
After a month of Canberra’s best new bands emerging from sub-urban garages and into the dim light of Transit Bar, it’s time for the best of the best to take to the stage and see who will be the last one standing.
The four finalists are Brother Be, Foreign Kings, The Gypsy Scholars and Bruges. Head on over to cheer them all on and discover Canberra’s ‘Next Big Thing’ (so you can be cooler than your friends)
3. CBR Fit Sample Session
near Walt & Burley, Kingston Foreshore
Sunday from 8.30am
We held the first of our CBR Fit Free Sample Sessions last week, and it was a lot of fun! A group of people eager to take advantage of a beautiful morning had a great time with the trainers, going through an hour of well-paced exercise.
This week, the team from Gold’s Gym is taking the class and everyone is welcome. Use the link below to register for your place, then come along and have fun with other’s keen to encourage and support those looking to make great health and wellbeing choices!
4. Skyfire at Lake Burley Griffin
Saturday from 5.00pm
It’s one of the biggest events on the Canberra Calendar, with 104.7 returning for the 27th time to through on the biggest fireworks display you’ll see all year. Grab some friends and picnic blanket and snacks and head down to almost any spot between the two bridges for the best views of the show.
We’ve ad a bit of fun with it this week, so check out our guide to the 5 People Who Go to Skyfire by clicking here.
5. Seth Sentry at ANU Bar
8.00pm Saturday
“Where’s my hoverboard?” Will be the refrain this Saturday night at ANU Bar as one of Australia’s most approachable hip-hop artists takes to the stage at ANU Bar.
This is an artist who prefers to deliver a social message through wit and nuance rather than with a sledgehammer. Seth has been charming crowds over the last few years since the release of his top-ten long player, This Was Tomorrow, and you’ll get the chance to enjoy his craft this Saturday night.
Have fun, y’all…
