Welcome back weekend!
Wow! How is it already May?
While Canberra turns on it’s autumn charms with its annual display of red, orange and yellow leaves, we’ve scoured the best of the city to find what you should go and see and do this weekend.
Enjoy!
1. Brumbies v Waratahs at GIO Canberra Stadium
Friday from 7.40pm
Here we go, sports fans… this is the big one! Whomever wins this game is in the box seat to take the finals spot for the Australian Conference in the Super 15 competition
The Brumbies were at their brilliant best last weekend against the Highlanders…scoring four tries in the first half was well beyond anyone’s expectations. It looks like there’s going to be a big crowd this weekend, so secure your spot via the link below.
2. The Spanish Film Festival at Palace Electric Cinema
All weekend
Grab your amigo and head off to NewActon for more fabulous films from Spanish-speaking countries all around the world.
There’s a certain magic about Spanish Cinema – it exudes all the energy and intensity of its language, meaning that regardless of whether it’s a drama or a comedy, you’re sure to be left exhilarated by the experience.
3. Sydney Dance Company – Frame of Mind at Canberra Theatre Centre
Friday and Saturday from 7.30pm
Over the last few decades, Sydney Dance Company has cemented itself as the premier organisation in Australia for contemporary dance. The tradition continues this weekend with Frame of Mind, a show described as ‘a hymn to the joy and pain of life and a salute to the redemptive power of motion’
That sounds good to us. Grab your ticket sand discover just how gripping Australian choreography can be.
4. MaRLo at Academy Nightclub
11.00pm Friday
Strap yourselves in, Canberra, It’s going to be a massive night of trance at Academy this Friday night.
MarRLo’s early inspirations were drawn from pioneers such as Aphex Twins, Armin Van Buuren and the Prodigy. Driving an incredible talent in the studio he has risen to striking heights claiming top chart spots. Signed to Armin van Buuren’s Armada Music, with Armin personally noting that MaRLo knows how to program the best lead sounds.
Coming his Dutch roots with a love of the Australian club scene, this is a night not to be missed…
5. Groovin’ the Moo at University of Canberra.
Sunday from 11.00am
It’s the festival that Canberra has grown to love. This year, Groovin the Moo features not only some of the worlds best (Charlie XCX and A$AP Ferg) but also Aussie faves (BallPark Music and San Cisco), and the truly awesome Canberra duo Coda Condut (yay!).
