Hooray! We’ve made it to the end of another week! Well done everybody… here are a bunch of things to do this weekend while thinking of absolutely anything but work!

1. British Film Festival at Palace Electric
All weekend.

The Brits have made some of the greatest films of all time (C’mon…the original Wicker Man. was great!) and their industry sees no sign of abatement. With a greater focus on strong storylines rather than bang-crash action, there’s nothing better than kicking back with a giant popcorn and watching the plot roll out before your eyes.

2. Tkay Maidza at The Chopshop
Friday from 8.00pm

Then ladies are stepping up and stepping out! Get on down to The Chopshop tonight to see some of the finest women in hip-hop take to the stage and put on a blistering show within one of Canberra’s most engaging venues.

Tkay Maidza has been tearing it up for the last 12 months, and she is only going to get bigger from here. Be sure you can be one of those who will one day say “I saw Tkay waaaay back…” by heading across to Braddon tonight.

Samples will be provided from awesome Australian craft breweries including Young Henry’s, 2 Birds, Cavalier, Moo Brew and Nomad.

Behave yourselves, now!

4. Beer Day Out at Kingston Foreshore
from 1.00pm Saturday.

Saturday looks like a belter of a day, and what better to do than walk around in the sunshine sampling some of the best beers in the world? Coming off a stellar debut last year, the second Beer Day Out promises more beers, more ciders, more food, more everything!

Anyone still standing can head back to Transit Bar for more samplings from Feral Brewery. Good luck!

5. Jazz & Shiraz at Lerida Estate
Sunday from 12.30pm

Take a trip up the Federal highway and treat yo’self to a fabulous afternoon among the vines of Lerida Estate. There’s nothing more peaceful than looking over Lake George with a glass of stunning Pinot, friends and a couple of cheeses – all with matched with some of the regions finest jazz musicians.

This weekend sees Mike Dooley on piano accompanying Rachel Thorne who delivers the great Jazz classics of singers like Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald, as well as soulful renditions of some more contemporary numbers.
