Happy Friday, Peeps!
As usual, there’s a stack of stuff on this weekend. If you’re not down the coast or neck deep in a pool somewhere, here’s a bunch of stuff to do around town.
Enjoy!
1. The Christmas Lights Garema Place
Friday from 8.00pm.
They’ve done it! After four weeks stringing over 20 kilometres of lights across the mall near the Carousel, InTheCity and the Richards family of Forrest have managed to break the Guinness World Record for a Christmas Display.
Pay a gold coin donation and enter a magical world where over one million lights twinkle and shine over your head. You’re never too old to be enchanted by the magic of Christmas.
2. Make a Bloody Mary! at Ainslie Cellars
Saturday from 10.00am – 12.00pm
It’s the ultimate breakfast cocktail, and Ainslie Cellars is giving you the opportunity to test your skills at creating your own version for free.
Sponsored by Belvedere, this is your chance to impress your friends by combining the essential ingredients of vodka, tomato juice, Tabasco and lemon. How much is too much? You’ll just have to get down there to see!
3. Champagne Dame at Canberra Centre
Saturday from 12.00pm.
Who doesn’t love a glass of bubbly? However, have you ever wanted to know a little more of the grand history of the Champagne region and its famous product, then head on down to Canberra Centre tomorrow for a master-class with Kyla Kirkpatrick (a.k.a. The Champagne Dame).
For $50.00 you’ll emerge with head filled with knowledge and your senses enlivened by the tastes and aromas of beautiful champagnes.
4. Locks of Love at Palace Electric
Sunday from 6.30pm.
Go Canberra! On Saturday night, we get to celebrate something rarely achieved in this city: the premiere of our own feature film!
An anthology film of eleven stories of love – all linked by locks on a gate – is a celebration of the efforts of SilverSun pictures and over 300 local film practitioners. It will be great to see people and scenery that we know so well up on the big screen, so take advantage of the two screenings this weekend.
5. Jazz & Shiraz at Lerida Estate.
Sunday from 11.00am.
It’s another beautiful day among the vines at Lerida Estate. This Sunday sees Dirk Zeylmans on saxophone & Lachlan Coventry on guitar & bass guitar (both from ‘As Famous as the Moon’) who will present a collection of sweet, sweet music straight from the Great American Songbook.
Grab a glass of Pinot, sit back and take it all in! Delicious!
Have fun, y’all!
