The second Commons Street Feast is now only a week away, bringing with it more than 20 of the nation’s top food trucks, pop-up bars and entertainment.
2016’s inaugural The Commons Street Feast saw over 50,000 Canberrans descend upon Commonwealth Park to indulge in a range of delicious food. The 2017 event will run from Thursday 30 November to Sunday 10 December, and will feature an array of new vendors, as well as some popular stalls from last year.
Making their The Commons debut this year will be Melbourne’s Two Fat Indians, That Arncini Guy, The Avocado Hut, Twistto, Maverick Wings, Pizza Artigiana and Tsuru. Sydney’s Pimp My Chimney will be serving their acclaimed pastry chimneys filled with ice cream.
Smoked-meat experts Get In The Q will be bringing their 36-inch smoker, mounted on the back of a 1952 Chevy truck, to produce their 14-hour ironbark and pecan smoked beef brisket.
Perhaps the most exciting newcomer to The Commons this year is Sydney’s Down N’ Out, whose specialty burgers have been an Instagram sensation. The team at Down N’ Out have a super-secret creation ready for this year’s event.
Gelato Messina have put together a collection of gelato biscuits, made especially for The Commons, including Saturday Nut Fever, After Disco Nut and Bisco Inferno.
Fans of last year’s event will to excited to hear of the return of some crowd favourites, such as Mary’s Burgers, Hoy Pinoy, Killa Fries, Soul Cartel, MEET, De Wafel and Kransky Brothers.
The hospitable Butlers will also be making a return to this year’s event. The Commons’ Butlers are there to make your experience incredible; taking your orders, queuing, and delivering your food straight to you, so you can relax and take in the atmosphere. This year, The Commons has partnered with OzHarvest Canberra to collect surplus food from the food trucks, to be distributed to those in need. Over $8-10 billion worth of food is thrown away each year in Australia, while two million people across the country are in need on food relief.
The Commons Street Feast is free to attend, and is open to all ages, with the exception of the 18+ bar areas on site. The Commons will be open for dinner every night, and from midday on the weekends.
