Want to get away this long weekend? Somewhere you can take the kids for free that’s kilometres away from the city? Well, I think we have the answer that will keep you and hubby happy!
Forget the Queen, this weekend is all about the King … the King Valley that is!
Just a short four-hour drive south of Canberra is a picturesque landscape abundant with quality local produce and award-winning vineyards.
Heavily influenced by the flavours of Italy, the King Valley is showcasing their beautiful produce, new release wines and recipes passed down through the generations in one massive ‘Weekend Fit for a King.’
Across the Weekend Fit for a King Food & Wine Festival, the winemaking families of the King Valley will be popping the corks on its new-release wines for festival goers to get the exclusive taste.
To accompany the wine, local families are welcoming you into their homes by sharing their homemade dishes made from family recipes. Think farm-made sausages, warming stews, pasta, pizza and cannoli from the old country!
Special events in the festival program include:
Masterclass with the Winemaker, Joel Pizzini
Taste current and back vintage wines, and discover the effects of vineyard, vintage, varietal and winemaking techniques in wine development over the years.
The King’s Feast
A lavish dinner on opening night of the festival in Brown Brothers’ historic barn. Four courses matched with wine from the family cellar and live entertainment.
Something for the kids at Dal Zotto
Let the kids run wild at Dal Zotto while you and hubby take in the atmosphere. With jumping castles, clown and face-painting plus plenty of pasta dishes just like Nonna makes, the family won’t want to leave.
Treat yourself to a weekend getaway and head along to the Weekend Fit for a King Food & Wine Festival. You deserve a weekend away and what better way to do it then escape to the country!
