Local designer Graciela Topal is fascinated by buttons and beads.

Her range, Trade With Grace, is a line of unique and playful jewellery made from buttons and beads, matching colours, textures and styles in unusual ways to create unique, eye-catching pieces.

“They are versatile, playful and fun to work with,” says Topal of her medium of choice.

“They are available in so many different shapes, sizes and colours and it’s possible to obtain a range of different effects just by playing around with them. And most importantly, they look great on anything.”

Recap: Adalita @ Transit Bar

It’s been a busy year for Adalita, her debut solo album was released in March, a successful national tour followed and she played for the Dalai Lama in June. She returned to a packed Transit Bar last Thursday as part of a handful of additional shows, supported by Laura Imbruglia.

Laura Imbruglia kicked off the night at around 9pm. Her solo performance complimented Adalita’s, playing a set of enjoyable songs, stripped down to just vocals and a guitar.

The Beards @ ANU Bar

Australia’s most successful beard band are back after a month in the studio recording their third beard-related album. Now, they are about to embark on a nation-wide tour to hammer home their steadfast message.

The band will be premiering their latest anthem: You Should Consider Having Sex With a Bearded Man. Since setting out to make the world a hairier place, The Beards have gained a loyal legion of bearded disciples around the country, but they are still not happy about society’s general lack of beards.
