To celebrate Canberra’s birthday on Monday 11th March, a whole fun-filled day of events has been organised around Lake Burley Griffin. Here are a few pointers on how to make your day as easy as possible.

It is best to enter the site at the ‘Welcome’ event based at Regatta Point, although you can enter at any point around Lake Burley Griffin. Don’t have a wallet full of money? Don’t worry about it – all events on the day are free, with the exception of the Bubbly Bars, which is a ticketed event.

Head on down to Thoroughbred Park on Sunday 10th March for the 2013 Kamberra Wine Company Black Opal Stakes and a total of $766,000 in prize money!

The day will feature 8 races including the Kamberra Wine Company Black Opal Stakes and the ACTTAB Canberra Centenary Cup. There is a lot happening this year and so much to do for the whole family!

Take part in the famous Myer Fashions on the Field with over $20,000 in cash and prizes, Evermore are performing live, meet the XXXX Angels, watch the Girls Girls Girls Stunt Riders and laugh at the hilarious Fool Factory.

On Monday 11th March, chill out at 8pm as all screens broadcast the Canberra Symphony Orchestra playing the world premiere of Symphony No 3 –

Century by Andrew Schultz. If you can’t make it to the Symphony Stage, find a good spot where you can see a big screen.

After the symphony, the fireworks and watercraft will begin and you can view this on the screens, lake and in the air. Canberra indie bands will conclude the evening at the Regatta Point stage.

Catch the University of Canberra Brumbies take on the Waratahs on Saturday 9th March at the Canberra Stadium.

Don’t miss the Greater Western Sydney Giants take on Essendon in the first ever AFL game under the lights at Manuka Oval on Friday 8th March.
